Welcome all or none who stumble upon this new blog of mine. I have had other blogs which I plan on keeping up with by posting the same things on each. I also at one point had a youtube account and had video reviews for tv episodes that I watched. I am starting this in the hopes of both gaining more exposure as well as using this as more motivation to write. I do not claim to be a good writer. A reason for this blog is the hope that I can develop these skills. I spend a lot of time writing down my thoughts and little time making sure it is written either well or correctly. So I hope I will take the time to pay more attention to what I am writing. I'm not sure how extensive my reviews will be as of yet. I usually have a lot to say but I don't like to spend more time writing about things than I do watching them.
I am a 21 year old college student hoping to move on to grad school im film studies. I have seen a great deal of films and I continue to watch a great deal of them. I hope that as this blog continues, a sense of my taste and particular interests within film begin to emerge. l also watch a lot of TV. While some may write off TV I certainly do not. I am of the opinion that TV is in its greatest era but also its worst. By this I mean that the strides that certain television programs are making in terms of what a show can accomplish is at its most impressive. There are also piles of shows that continue to either bring humanity down yet another notch or are run of the mill nonsense. The shows that I watch (some for fun and some both for fun but also because they challenge and amaze me) will be reviewed on this blog as well.
I am also trying to read more novels and graphic novels as well so I will try to review what I read as well. Cut me a bit of slack here though as I have little experience in writing about this medium.
So essentially this blog will review in some way the films that I see both old and new. I watch a bit of everything. I watch high art films as well as the shittiest movies you can think of. I think it is important to watch a full range of films i terms of quality because it helps balance out what can work and not work within a film.
This blog will also review the TV episodes I watch both new and old and whatever other stories in other mediums I expose myself to.
I also plan on commenting on film and tv news but particularly paying attention to the awards season. I become ashamedly addicted to awards season once it gets going. It is important to remember that the Oscars and most other major awards shows are a bunch of hooey and should not be taken seriously. The issues and hypocrisy surrounding them are absurd. However they admittedly motivate me to watch as many films from the year as I can, therby earning the right to complain about them and to come up with my own awards at the end of it all. So I will revel in the guilty pleasure that it is awards season with full force.
