Movie and TV News of the Week of Interest to Me
Please keep in mind these are representations of my gut reaction to this information. Hence the reptition and simplicity.
Netflix to Stream to TV's via Playstation 3 - This is very exciting because it is an even more immediate way of watching movies than the actual mailing process of Netflix. Since I have access to a Playstation 3 even though I do not own one, this is quite awesome
January Jones Signs on for 2 Films - Videogum recently posted something that basically pleaded for January Jones to sign on for good films. For those of you who don't know, January Jones plays Betty Draper on Mad Men. She had been around for a while and did nothing of substance. Then this show came along and lo and behold she is a brilliant actress. However, she cannot be good with bad material. Knowing that at some point, she is going to need to have something else under her belt besides Mad Men, I also am hoping she makes good decisions. These two seem like bad ones. First we have Unknown White Male, a thriller with Liam Neeson. It is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who directed the remake of House of Wax. : / He also did Orphan, a beautiful piece of trash which I will defend to the death. Still, this does not sound promising. Even less promising though is The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, possibly the worst film title since Love Happens (which is way worse). And it has Nicolas Cage. Back in the day this would be good. Now it is essentially another nail in the coffin. She is so brilliant on the show and while a lot of it is the directing and the writing, the performance still has to come from somewhere. Ricky Gervais to Host the Golden Globes - This is very interesting considering that Gervais declined to host the Oscars last year but accepted this. It makes sense because he would get free rein here whereas the Oscars care a lot more about ratings and would saddlie him with tons of unwanted material. This new development makes me ecstatic for the Globes because they have cred now that they have Gervais.
B]Director of Paul Blart: Mall Cop Steve Barr to direct remake of Short Circuit[/B] - I have nothing to say to this. It is just hilarious. Just the idea of a remake of this movie as a seperate piece of news equals hilarity. Then throw in the director of Paul Blart: Mall Cop?! What a joke. As I type I shake my head in amusement and disgust.
Invictus Trailer Premieres - I am sure this film will have its merits but I seriously do not have any interest in this movie. At all.
Adam Sandler is Jack as well as Jill?! - Adam Sandler will next star in and produce the Columbia Pictures romantic comedy Jack and Jill, says Variety. Sandler will play Jack as well as twin sister Jill. - WTF? Yes you read that correctly.
Jessica Biel is attached to star in and produce rookie screenwriter Julia Brownell's original screenplay F***ing Engaged, a raunchy comedy about a couple who make a pact to have sex every day leading to their wedding so they don't turn into their crusty old parents. - Honestly some of these film synopses are destroying me. This sounds awful. Absolutely awful.
John Rhys-Davies not returning for The Hobbit - Good. Fuck Gimli. I hate Gimli. I HATE GIMLI!!!
Transformers Tops the DVD Rentals and Sales Shocking. People go to stupid movies so why wouldn't it make sense that they also rent stupid movies?
Men in Black 3 moving forward - NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
